Day 1 : New York - Connecticut - Rhode Island

Leaving New York, the tour heads for Essex, Connecticut - home of the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat ride* (optional and seasonal). Fun for all ages, the train is an authentic and fully restored coal fired locomotive. Featuring all the traditional steam whistle and clickety-clack train sounds, the conductor will even greet riders with a resounding "All Aboard!" Both the train and riverboat ride will offer unforgettable views of the New England countryside. The tour will then head to the Naval Submarine Base in New London, the U.S. Navy's primary submarine base, and considered the submarine capital of the world. If time permits, we will visit nearby Mystic Village, home to an entire recreated 19th century seafaring village. The town also features the  Mystic Aquarium*, where we’ll see a huge variety of ocean life, including 3 beluga whales, sea lions, penguins and sharks. Continuing on to Providence, Rhode Island, we will visit the Rhode Island State House, and then finish our day with a trip to Newport’s The Breakers mansion* (optional), once a summer home to the Vanderbilt family.

Day 2 : Martha's Vineyard - New York

Today we’ll explore Martha's Vineyard. In order to reach the island, we will join the bustling vacationers and board a Steamship Authority ferry* to make the water crossing. Offering views of the New England coastline, the ride provides an opportunity for visitors to take in the crisp sea air. Once we reach Martha's Vineyard, we will enjoy a beautiful island tour* of the six island towns that dot the landscape. Each town is distinct and remarkable--from the Victorian Oak Bluffs to the rural West Tisbury, from the industrious whaling village of Edgartown and boat building Vineyard Haven to Chilmark's natural vistas--you’ll understand why the Vineyard has become such a popular vacation spot. After sampling the beaches and enjoying the easy island life that residents boast of, we’ll conclude the tour and make our way back (fully relaxed, of course!) to New York.
