Day 1 : Arrive Rome

Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! After check-in the remainder of the day is at leisure, perhaps to relax or explore. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow traveling companions.

Day 2 : Rome sightseeing & at leisure

This morning our guided sightseeing tour takes us into St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican to see the famous Pieta – among other great works. Then we cross the Tiber to explore ancient Rome with views of the Forum, a visit to the mighty Colosseum where gladiatorial combat took place and a view over the Circus Maximus where chariot races were held. Later, time to relax or explore further. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 3 : Rome sightseeing – Venice

An early start today so that we can enjoy our highlight guided visit to the Sistine Chapel to admire the painted ceiling by Michelangelo. Later we head north from Rome following the valley of the River Tiber. Then we enter Umbria and see the impressive hilltop towns of Orte and Orvieto, once used as a stronghold by the popes, before entering Tuscany. Here we see the Chianti vineyards and the terraced olive groves before we start to cross through the forested Apennine hills. We pass Bologna and reach the flat Veneto plains and continue to our hotel where we dine tonight. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4 : Venice sightseeing – Lake Garda

This morning we savor the sights and sounds of this floating city on an included canal cruise by private motor launch to St. Mark’s Square viewing the Bridge of Sighs and Doge’s Palace. Next we visit a glass-blowing factory before time on your own to explore this unique city. Then we drive across the plains of Veneto past Verona towards the Italian Lake District for the night. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 5 : Lake Garda – Florence

Today our Tour Director will show us a special Hidden Treasure! But first we follow the shores of Lake Garda before we head for Florence. The medieval and Renaissance past of this culturally rich city is revealed to us on a guided walking tour. We will see the Piazza Signoria - the political center of the 15th century city - with its impressive sculptures and imposing palazzos, the multi-colored marbled Duomo and famous Baptistery with the bronze doors designed by the Renaissance artist Ghiberti. We’ll also walk to see the Ponte Vecchio, bridging the River Arno. Later, time to explore, relax or shop for high quality leather goods and 18-carat gold jewelry. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 6 : Florence – Rome

This morning we drive southwards passing the Chianti vineyards and the olive groves which cover the rolling hills of Tuscany. This unique landscape has been an inspiration to artists throughout the centuries and still is today. Then we travel through the region of Umbria with bright golden fields of sunflowers and shady valleys before we reach again the valley of the River Tiber which leads us back to the Eternal City, Rome. Here we have time to relax a little before we join our Tour Director and new-found touring friends for a Farewell Dinner with wine tonight in a local restaurant to celebrate the end of our Italian holiday together. (Buffet breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

Day 7 : Depart for Hometown

It's 'buon viaggio' as our Italian vacation comes to an end. Airport transfers are available, conditions apply. (Buffet breakfast)

FLORENCE. Lunch or Dinner, Wine & Music in the Chianti Hills(€57/person): Take a scenic drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside to a delightful regional restaurant set among the pines and cypress trees. Here an feast of gastronomic specialities awaits, accompanied by song and music.
ITALIAN LAKES. Magical Boat Trip(€26/person): Take a magical boat trip Lake Garda, stopping at one of the glorious resorts on the largest lake in Italy.
ROME. Ancient and Christian Rome(€33/person): Explore Rome’s past. Visit the Catacombs where the early Christians assembled to escape persecution and which were used as underground cemeteries. Then to the famous Basilica of St Pauls outside the walls, where the Apostle is buried. Our visit will be enhanced by the effective use of our excellent audio system.
ROME. Evening Tour: Fountains and Dinner (€57/person): A lighthearted introduction to the "Eternal City". Make sure of a safe return to Rome as you toss coins in to the Trevi Fountain. Drive along the glamorous Via Veneto - famed as the setting of "la dolce vita", and admire the splendour of the monuments in magnificent Piazza Venezia. Then relax and enjoy a typical Italian meal with drinks included.
ROME. Introduction to Rome by Night(€32/person): A superb drive through Rome, seeing some of the most impressive sights that this city has to offer. Afterwards we will stroll to beautiful Piazza Navona with its fountains, trattorias and outside cafes, followed by a visit to Piazza Venezia to see the Capitoline Hill and Mussolini's headquarters during WWII (Palazzo Venezia)
TUSCANY. Florence. Jewels of the Renaissance (€34/person): A guided tour of the Accademia allows us to appreciate the most controversial sculpture in Italy, Michelangelo’s David. Our visit will be enhanced by the effective use of our excellent audio system.
TUSCANY. Visit to San Gimignano(€31/person): We drive to the nearby hilltop town of San Gimignano, the 'medieval Manhattan' of Tuscany. Surrounded by fields of sunflowers, vineyards and olive groves, this is Italy's best preserved medieval city and will give you an excellent idea of daily life in Italy during the Middle Ages.
VENICE. Gondola Serenade(€32/person) :An ideal introduction to this unique and magical city. Enjoy a romantic gondola journey along canals full of character and colour, while musicians and singers entertain. See the Grand Canal with its magnificent and elegant palaces, witnesses of the past splendours of the 'Serenissima'.
VENICE. Magical Venice(€60/person): A scintillating introduction to this magical city! First we cruise along the Grand Canal by private water taxis admiring the elegant Palazzos. We see the Rialto Bridge and then reach the 'most beautiful outdoor drawing room in the world' - St. Mark's Square. VENICE. Venetian Glories(€34/person): Accompanied by a local expert we are taken into the magnificent Doges' Palace - home to the rulers of the Venetian republic for hundreds of years. We are shown the main highlights of the palace and its elegant courtyards, before entering the Byzantine Basilica of St. Mark the Evangelist, patron saint of the city of Venice. Here we admire the stunning golden mosaics and wonderful Byzantine architecture. (entrance fees included).
VENICE. Venice by Night(€43/person): A scintillating introduction to this magical city! First we cruise along the Grand Canal by private water taxis admiring the elegant Palazzos. We see the Rialto Bridge and then reach the 'most beautiful outdoor drawing room in the world' - St. Mark's Square. Here we will have time to wonder at the impressive architecture before enjoying an included drink at one of the chic 'al fresco' cafe's whilst listening to the music of its own orchestra. We return to our coach on the mainland by private motor launch. (1 drink inc.)
