Below is the itinerary for the North Beach
Little Italy Tour:
- After meeting in Front of Mario’s Bohemian Shop, at the corner of Union and Columbus (on Washington Square), we’ll start off at a coffee shop where you'll have the best coffee drinks (or teas, Italian sodas, etc, for non-coffee drinkers), such as the best cappuccino you ever had, and you'll see how it's roasted, up close and personal.
- Next, we'll be getting chocolate from one of the top ten chocolatiers in the country. In addition to tasting incredible chocolate and seeing how it's made, you'll be taking some home with you.
- San Francisco is very similar to Europe, where we have either bread bakeries or pastry bakeries. We'll be going to both types of bakeries, and trying numerous things from each of them, and then going in back and seeing how things are made. For example, we'll be going in the back of a bread bakery with 130-year-old brick ovens and seeing how they make the bread.
- We'll be tasting some local olive oil, in addition to trying several different types of specialty meats.
- After we get pastries from one of the best bakeries in San Francisco, we'll be exploring the beat generation parts of San Francisco. For example, we'll be going to the very place where Francis Ford Copola wrote the Godfather screenplay and the place where Bill Cosby got his start.
- Chances are, we’ll be listening to lots of blues and jazz as we explore the beat generation hangouts of North Beach.
- And, we’ll finish up at the very place where everyone from Robin Williams, Maya Angelo, Woody Allen, Phyllis Diller, and more got their start. The very place where Barbara Streisand and the Grateful Dead played. And it looks and feels exactly the same as it did when they were there.
After the tour, guests have the option* of feasting on a multi-course meal at a local restaurant where the chefs are known, and serve their best dishes for you, their honored guest.
Come, experience the Local Taste of North Beach....It is often said, it is impossible to be bored or unromantic in San Francisco. And every one of your adventures through North Beach will make you believe it!
