Granite cliffs, mountains, meadows, forests, rivers and valleys formed by
glaciers over millions of years. On entering Yosemite you are greeted by the
largest monolith, El Capitan, rising 3, 000-ft from the valley floor. On 2nd day
you can go to Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove of Big Trees in the summer. Or
you can spend the day in Yosemite Valley with the ponderosas, pine,
incense-cedars, rivers and rocks.
Tour Itinerary:
- Day 1 San Francisco - Yosemite - Valley Sights Tour:
Pick up from any downtown hotel in central San Francisco area between 6:15am
and 6:45am. Direct motor coach leaves San Francisco by 7:00am going through
San Joaquin Valley. Brief rest stop at around 10:30am. Enter Yosemite about
12:15pm. *
Valley Sights Tour. On the way in we drive up to Tunnel View to see most
of Yosemite Valley including El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall and Half Dome.
Driving on the south side of Merced River you see Three Brothers, Sentinel
Rock, Yosemite Falls and meadows. Past the Chapel and crossing the Sentinel
Bridge we reach Yosemite Lodge by 1:45pm. Store you luggage with the bell
staff.
At Yosemite Lodge Tour desk you can reserve and pay
for the optional Grand Tour, Valley Floor Tour or Glacier Point Tour for the following days.
Next 2 to 3 hours free-walk to Yosemite Falls, take the free shuttle to the Visitor Center,
The Ahwahnee Hotel
and other places, etc. El Portal YART Bus from Yosemite Lodge to your hotel -
Yosemite View Lodge leaves at 4:15pm, 4:35pm 5:20pm and 8:15pm. Takes about 25
mins. Take your luggage with you. Overnight in El Portal (Yosemite View Lodge)
On 2nd day you can take the Grand Tour to Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove of Big Trees in
the summer. Or you can spend the day in Yosemite Valley with the ponderosas,
pine, incense-cedars, rivers and rocks. You should reserved and paid for the
optional tour(s) today.
Optional Tours Activities:
A. Grand Tour (about $60/person). (June to October) 8
hours.
Leaves at 8:45 a.m. A tour motor coach, up to 50 passengers with a
driver/guide takes you to Mariposa Grove of Big Trees. Return stop at Wawona
Hotel during lunchtime and then at Glacier Point.
(For this tour you need to take
the 7:23 YARTS from El Portal.)
B. Glacier Point Tour (about $32/person). (late May to late October) 4 hours.
Operates two or three times a day.
A tour motor coach takes that seats up to 50 passengers takes you up with the
driver/guide past the Tunnel View and Badger Pass area to Glacier Point, 3,200
feet above the valley floor. You spend about 45 minutes to an hour there.
C. Valley Floor Tour (about $22.5/person). (All year around) 2
hours.
Departs from Yosemite Lodge. See Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Valley View,
Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, The Three Brothers, Sentinel Rock, Happy Isles
and Half Dome.
D. Free Day. If you wish to spend time with
activities of your own choice this is a free day for you.
- Day 2 Tour Activities:
Going up to Yosemite Valley at 7:23 or 8:56 a.m. YARTS Bus from El Portal
arrives at Yosemite Lodge in 45 minutes. SPEND THE DAY ON YOUR OWN or if you
have reserved and paid for one of the you board at Yosemite
Lodge. For return to El Portal YARTS Bus from Yosemite Lodge leaves at 4:15,
4:35, 5:20 and 8:15 p.m. Takes about 25 minutes. Overnight in El Portal
(Yosemite View Lodge)
- Day 3 Tour Activities - San Francisco:
Check out and take your luggage with you at 7:23am or 8:56 am. YARTS
Bus transfer from El Portal arrives Yosemite Lodge in about 45 minutes. Take one
of the tours that you booked on Day 1 that returns by 3:30pm OR SPEND THE DAY
ON YOUR OWN. Meet us at Yosemite Lodge at 3:30pm for 3:45pm departure. Brief stop en
route arriving back in San Francisco after 8:30 pm. There can be traffic
delays or late departure - please do not expect to catch a flight at night.
Hotel Information:
- Yosemite View Lodge is located along the Merced river in El Portal,
about 25 minutes by bus from Yosemite Visitor Center. It has 277 rooms in
several three story structures. The central area consists of the lobby, gift
shop, a pizza parlor, dining room and a lounge. There is an outdoor spa and
two pools. All the rooms have air conditioning, TV., kitchenettes, coffee
makers, microwave ovens, refrigerators and a spa tub with double showers. They
have a choice of River View Rooms or Mountain View Rooms. • 279 rooms • Phone,
