Day 1: New York – Caverns of Virginia:
Depart from NYC for Virginia's cool caverns and escape the summer's heat. Children and adults alike thrill to the strange worlds slowly created by mineral stalactites and stalagmites. Some of these most spectacular creations were formed just one drip at time, growing into vast expansive chambers decorated by predominately huge columns, some 10-stories tall. Some of these caves were even rumored to have been hiding places for escaped slaves on their way to freedom!
Hotel: Ramada Inn or similar
-
Day 2: Great Smoky Mountains – Dixie Stampede:
We continue out tour by heading into Tennessee, with a brief stop at the Tennessee Visitors’ Center, where you can learn about Tennessee musical history as the capital of country music. The tour proceeds with a drive through the Great Smoky Mountains, home to all kinds of animals, even some 1,500 bears. The tour then heads to Pigeon Forge, fun family vacation spot with more than 40 attractions ranging from miniature golf, go-carts and bumper boats to water rides, music theatres and magic shows. Also in Pigeon Forge, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in Dixie Stampede which includes the special Carriage Room Opening Act, the thrilling horse and rodeo show and a mouth-watering four-course dinner complete with a delicious dessert (optional).
Hotel: Best Western Inn or similar
-
Day 3: Chattanooga – Virginia:
The third day finds us in Chattanooga, where we will see a variety of natural and manmade wonders. Driving through majestic Lookout Mountain, we will visit Ruby Falls, a 30 million years old site with a 145 foot underground waterfall located over 1120 feet beneath the mountain’s surface. We will also see Rock City, a marvel of nature featuring massive ancient rock formations, lush gardens and breathtaking panoramic views where you can see 7 neighboring states! The tour will then board the Incline Railway, a ride unlike any other. Named “America’s Most Amazing Mile,” trolley-style railcars carry you past the clouds up the steepest passenger railway in the world. There is also an opportunity to visit Lost Sea, an underground cavern system recognized by the U.S. Department of the Interior as a Registered National Landmark.
Hotel: Ramada Inn or similar
-
Day 4: Virginia – Natural Bridge – New York:
From Virginia, the tour will visit Natural Bridge, a looming rock formation that is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The natural monument, according to urban legends, was owned by none other than Thomas Jefferson. George Washington’s initials are even carved into the rock face. The tour then returns to New York.
