Maco Polo used to came Beijing and left lot of praises here. This tour will take you back to the old Beijing where was appreciated by the famous travelist. Besides, the historic site now becomes a patriotic education base to commemorate anti-Japan War. To experience Beijing's folk culture, you are invited to learn to make a kite or a lantern.
Today will be a full day exploration to the Old Beijing Folk Culture Base. In the morning, 1 hour driving will take you to Wan Ping City. A well protected outer wall makes it a mini city inside Beijing. It is the memorial place for the anti-Japan War during World War II. The city witnesses the dishonor history and it turns to be a patriotic education base. You will see Marco Polo Bridge here--the oldest bridge in Beijing built 800 years ago. With more than 500 stone lions on the balusters, this bridge was praised by Marco Polo as "the most beautiful marble bridge".
The rest of today will be the culture base tour. A lecture will be first given to give you some idea of the old Beijing quadrangle, how people work and how they spend leisure time. You can see many vivid clay-made figures, such as the rich officer, heaver, barber, vender etc. You can also play the traditional games, learn to make lantern and kite by yourself.
Lunch will be the old Beijing noodle as well as some local snack.
