| Behind the Forbidden City, there was a large area of royal mansions for Emperors' relatives. With the royal power decreased gradually, some of those luxury mansions were possessed by later celebrities from political field and cultural field. Nowadays, most of this large area becomes the life area for average people. However, some famous mansions and celebrities' former residences are key-protected and open to the public as exhibitions. You can roam among those mansions and imagine the house owners' changing. There is also the most popular bar street waiting for you.
In the morning, your guide will meet you and take you to the city center where Hutong lanes crossing like a chess board. Here you will visit Prince Chun's Mansion, where the last emperor Puyi was born. In 1950's, this was the residence of the first lady Song Qingling who was the wife of Sun Zhongshan. Along your trip, you may find that once the luxury mansions are aparted become the residences of several households of average people now.
The Hutong tour also includes the visit of a local family, playing with the children in a kindergarten, climbing on the Bell Tower to take a bird eye view of the Hutong area. Chinese dumpling lunch with other local dishes cooked by the housewife at a quadrangle will be offered. The rest of today will be free for you to have a leisure time in a pedestrian street where many characteristic bars and coffee houses are dotted.
Tonight, if you like, you can try the Imperial Dishes(USD45) in Beihai Park and Beijing Opera(USD38). Beihai Park was the royal park during the past 600 years. And Beijing Opera, which is dubbed National Quintessence now, performed originally exclusively for the emperor's birthday celebration. |

| You could exchange cash at airport, most of banks and most of hotels have money exchange counter services. However, hotels offer money exchanging service to their guests only. Passport is required when you change money or check etc. |

What is the electrical voltage in China?

What time is the best time for traveling in China?

| China has many different kinds of climate for the large land area. In northeast area, four seasons are distinguished. Most of the rain is in summer. Winter and spring are very dry. In northwest of china, like Urumqi, an important city in Silk Road tour, winter is dry and cold and summer is dry and hot. The golden time to visit these cities is spring and autumn. In the southern part of China, like Shanghai, summer is humid and long lasted from May to September. In winter, it's wet and chilly. The best time to visit is spring and autumn. |
