Itinerary

The sun-drenched allure of Mexico and Mexican culture is difficult to overstate. And here is a chance to taste the exotic in one itinerary of sun, sand and tequila. First head through California, America's most populous state, originally a territory of Mexico. Spend the afternoon in Hollywood, America's dream factory. The next morning cross the border through infamous Tijuana. Your destination today is Ensenada, a bustling port of shops and restaurants, but first stop in quaint Rosarito for a stroll on the beach.

The next day you're bound for La Bufadora, the gushing burst of spray that jets through the rocky crags of the pacific coast. After your return to the States stop by San Diego and see California's own Spanish history come alive as you visit California's second largest city.

On the return journey, drive past California's world famous coastline, stopping in Santa Barbara and Solvang; the authentic Danish villa nestled amongst the lush rolling green hills of Southern California's Santa Inez valley.

  • Day 1: Bay Area - Los Angeles:
Visit the largest metropolitan area in California, Los Angeles. Highlights include the historical landmarks of Hollywood, downtown, as well as Hollywood Blvd., Chinese Theater, and the newly built Kodak Theatre, which is now the permanent home to the Oscars. Overnight stay in Los Angeles.

Hotel: Ramada Inn, Commerce, CA or similar†

  • Day 2: Los Angeles - Tijuana - Ensenada:
In the morning, pass through the border city of Tijuana and head onto the Golden Coast highway. Stop by the small town of Rosalito around noon. In the afternoon, arrive in the port city of Ensenada. The rest of the afternoon is to leisure. After check in, enjoy the various shops that carry anything from fine Mexican handicraft, glassware to the famous Mexican Tequila.

Hotel: Hotel Santo Thomas, Ensanada or similar†

  • Day 3: Ensenada - La Bufadora - Coronado Island:
In the morning, head for La Bufadora and experience the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean as it cuts into the jagged coastline making for a picturesque scenic view of the coast. Visit the natural Blowhole located in La Bufadora. Head into San Diego around noon, where we will arrive at the largest naval station of the West Coast. Cross the Coronado Bridge to visit "Del Coronado Hotel", which is the oldest hotel in California. At more than 100 years old, many former presidents of the United States as well as countless celebrities have stayed here. Also visit San Diego Old Town where it's known as the origin of California, where the State Flag was first raised to commemorate California as the 31st State in the Union.

Hotel: Ramada Inn, Commerce, CA or similar†

  • Day 4: Los Angeles - Santa Barbara - Solvang - Bay Area:
In the morning, visit the Danish immigrant town of Solvang. The word Solvang in Danish can be translated as "sunny countryside", which in fact is true for almost the entire year.
