Of all the sights evocative of the splendor and decadence of old Shanghai, none is singularly more impressive than the Bund. It is on this swampy riverbank that Shanghai’s previous taipans (heads of trading houses) erected these monuments of wealth. Built of marble and stone, the Bund is the mark of foreign interest and business focus. Walking along these western buildings, you will feel like going back to a historic corridor.

In the morning, your guide take you to the Garden Bridge, originally built by an English businessman in 1856. You are able to see the private residence and office of Victor Sassoon, former Banque de I'indo-Chine, the Glen Line Building, the former North Daily News Building, the Shanghai Customs House, the British Municipal City Hall, the former Shanghai Club and etc. All these buildings are lined along the Bund making it into an open air and living museum of late 19th and early 20th Century architecture.
