If you desire an adventurous experience of the Great Wall, the best choice is the Great Wall at Si-ma-tai or Jin-shan-ling! There are fewer tourists but grander views. This section of the Great Wall was built on extremely steep mountains and you will find that most sections are what we call the "Wild Wall", which are sections that haven't been repaired for over 500 years.

In the morning, your local guide and private driver will meet you in the hotel lobby, and take you to the Great Wall at Simatai.

3 hours' driving through the beautiful countryside will take you to this quiet section. If you pay close attention, you can find some original bricks making up the Wall marked with the name of the builder. If you like, you can even hike on the wall from Si-ma-tai section to Jin-shan-ling section. The hiking takes you about 4 hours.

It is difficult to find a good restaurant at this section of the Great Wall and so we recommend that you take a picnic with you and enjoy eating in the open air on the Wall.
