Enhance your Grand City Drive tour with a visit to historic Craigdarroch Castle. The castle was built in the late 1800's by Robert Dunsmuir. Learn the fascinating history of this poor Scottish coal miner who became the wealthiest and most influential man in British Columbia. His vast fortune is reflected in the fine examples of residential leaded and stained glass coupled with hand sculpted oak paneling and woodwork. The castle consists of four floors, is approximately 20,000 sq. ft., has 39 rooms and 17 fireplaces. The Castle's artifact collection includes thousands of outstanding examples of Victorian furniture and artifacts. Craigdarroch Castle is truly a masterpiece of "High Victorian" architecture and a very significant Canadian heritage treasure. Save on the Castle Admission and climb the 87 stairs to enjoy the high tower views of the entire city, the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the snow capped Olympic Mountains. (Castle Admission included)
